Part of 91 Place’s comprehensive approach to disrupting homelessness is a workforce development program, which assists our clients in the development of employability skills to advance in the labor market.
Clients participate in a workforce development curriculum, covering topics such as communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution. Youth develop the essential skills, resiliency, and work ethic to enable them to thrive in any workplace.
It’s not just about job skills; it’s a transformative journey that instills a sense of purpose and confidence, empowering our clients not only to secure employment but to become independent, contributing members of society.
Our workforce development program began with the acquisition of the beloved local coffee shop, Neidhammer Coffee Co., in April 2023.
Operating under its original name, Neidhammer Coffee Co. now serves as a workforce development hub empowering youth facing homelessness by equipping them with employability skills to thrive in any career they choose.
This initiative not only provides practical hands-on experience but also enables our youth to actively contribute to the community, reinforcing the idea that their potential reaches beyond the workplace, and that they have the capacity to become an impactful member of the community.
91 Place is cultivating partnerships with local business owners who are excited about employing our youth in the future.
This comprehensive approach not only improves their employability but also breaks the cycle of homelessness, enabling them to build a stable future with financial independence. Through the workforce development program, 91 Place seeks to transform the lives of unhoused youth, empowering them to overcome adversity and reach their full potential.
The Impact of Trauma-Informed Workforce Development on Youth and Community
